| At my parent's home, off work sick. Been ill since last Weds, just feeling rubbish, cold and shivery one minute, stripping off the next. I was off on Thursday, but felt a bit perkier in the evening so went in work again Fri. On my dinnerhour raced over to the library returning Chinese cookery books, then Boots to get a sandwich and electric toothbrush. I nearly fainted in there. All afternoon back in work the idea to ask for the rest of the day off is on the tip of my tongue, but all I have to do is click a mouse so I stuck it out.
After a weekend of not-going-out I decided to finally try get some medicine. Rang 3 surgeries in Chorlton, none of which were taking new patients. My old Drs back up in Chadderton didn't have an appointment until this Weds evening, so got my paw to drive me up to Oldham Walk-in centre.
The nurse took my temperature, looked in my ears, down my throat and said "make sure you take plenty of fluids". Maybe I've just been imagining feeling rough. The roof of my mouth is incredibly sore, like I've burnt it eating pizza. I hope I don't have a dental rather than medical problem... | comments: Leave a comment |
| I applied online for an unsecured personal loan off Alliance &Leicester to absorb my overdraft and ex-Gold card. I got accepted, they'll send some paperwork for me to sign. I hope this isn't one of the biggest financial mistakes I could make
Yesterday I called o2 to switch to a pay-as-you-go tariff, but the guy I spoke to gave me a special £15 a month 300 offpeak mins/ 500 txts deal. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| Had some Money Laundering training today: reading a wedge of printouts then a multiple-choice quiz!

I imagined all these terrorists in their ski masks at a bake sale or raffle, 'raising funds'

| This season's accessory du jour is without a doubt, the hipflask.
Ideal for all those still recovering from overspending at Xmas/New Year, but who also have a kitchen full of bottles of alcohol. And also ON SALE!
Last Sat at the Star Kay was in charge of the Bacardi. Bad idea. The more she had, the cockier she got about pouring it out. However as she waited for the rest of us to claim our coats at the end she got mortified when the guy on the door (dunno if it was Nick or not) said to her "next time don't bring yr own drink luv" | comments: Leave a comment |

| Saturday was lovely. I had to get some ingerdients for my recipe from Travels with a Hot Wok: Grilled lamb w/Sesame sauce. So Kay and I visited Woo Sang supermarket in Chinatown. I bought exotic things like mirin, tahini snd Sichuan peppercorns. I couldn't resist some Hello Kitty pocky. There was one disappointment. Outside they had lots of bubblegum-style vending machines w/keychains/ moudled plastic junk in. On display they had Winnie the Pooh ones, except it looked like Pooh had been eaten by something else; you could just see his head sticking out of the creature's mouth. The one we wanted saw Pooh eaten by... a badger! But there were no vending machines containing these prizes and the cashier said he didn't have the key to open the display cabinet | comments: Leave a comment |
| Lately there has been a rather strange storyline in Corrie involving Roy and one of (Evil)Charlie's building mates, Vince.
Vince has been going in Roy's Rolls, eating his own food, smoking, tearing bits out of the paper etc.
This has caused Roy no end of flashbacks to his boyhood, being teased in school. They used to call him 'Ray Crapper'. Oscar-winning performances.
Anyway, Roy revealed that his one true ambition was to be ...a librarian!. Never was there one to sexx-up the image of public libraries than Roy and his assortment of snazzy cardies. Keep up the good work | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |

Friday; 2 Big Macs and Reg fries. Ate 1x Mac and Fries. The fries were amazing Sat: Remaining Big Mac. Went 'halves' on a Chicken Sandwich BOGOF w/Kay. Sunday: 2x Filet o'fish. Ate them both, they're only small. Monday: 2x Big Macs again. Worryingly still felt hungry after the first, but resisted and had some Cocopops instead Tue: Remaining BigMac. Tried to tempt Kay to a Chicken Sandwich again, but she couldn't afford it. She had a frozen lasagne for dinner, but later on I caught her cooking Chicken Dippers... she'd clearly not ben able to stop thinking about that sweet Chicken Sandwich she declined. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| New Year= New Job?
On Friday Dasher came over to have a word w/me. About becoming permanent... I got an application form and pre-employment health questionnaire. I also need to show them proof of ID but cuz I ain't got a passport I'll have to send off instead for a copy of my extended birth certificate. Maybe I should just apply for a passport; join the jetset. He also informed me that becoming a proper member of staff would mean switching to monthly pay, meaning 3 weeks without a wage; probly have to crash ma+paw for some Bells to tide me over...
Apart from that I'm really dying working there at the moment. Last week I was working on an application for Admin Assistant for the Council. On Thursday night I wrote my draft of what I'd put in the "why should we give you this job?" section, intending to write it nicely, or possibly type it on Friday evening... which was when Fred asked if I wanted to go to High Voltage. And the rest is history | comments: Leave a comment |

| It's so quiet here I can't sleep. There isn't a tv or radio in my room anymore so I can't put anything on to distract me from the silence. The cat woke me up an hour ago wanting to go out. I did, then scurried back to bed to snuggle up again but I started worrying about her out in the cold. Also I knew I should have brought one of my own pillows. She's safely back inside now. I wonder if the morning light will reveal any dead rodents/birds on the back step.
Peewee received an mp3 player (not an iPod I guess, else he would have said 'an iPod'). I imagine his parents giving it to him so that they can have some peace+quiet while he figures out how to download tracks onto it haha Lyn said she got lots of random cute junk; nothing especially worth mentioning. I think her folks had to send over $$s to her a couple of times while she was in Vancouver. I've still not found out if she's just over here for Xmas or not.
Laurence sent me a txt, which was unexpected. Not much more than merry xmas. hope yooure having a good day, but... he was thinking about me right? He does seem to have changed towards me lately, softened. I mean inviting me to Dave-mas, then calling me the next day saying that he missed me cuz I didn't go. I admit I daydreamed about him calling me again, meeting in town like we used to, him giving me a lift home and complaining about how far it was | comments: Leave a comment |
| Hooray finished work for a couple of days for Christmas Was disappointed that I did literally only get paid for the 4 hours I worked today. Last year working for Citi on Christmas Eve we got paid a full day. I also realised that although I have these days off, I won't be getting paid for them, unless I requested them to be so. So rushed off a Holiday Request Form in order to get paid for Monday 3rd January at least.
Everyone brought in some food for the buffet, but as always there was far too much; unopened boxes of Ritz, 'value' of packs of ham which only had 3 slices consumed. I had some my mince pies to bring home w/me for the folks.
Crackers were pulled, the best prize was a fish-shaped ring which has the capacity to squirt water. Julie brought in a ultra-cheap Dance-Dance-Revolution style game... it had no music just flashing lights you had to stamp on. I went up against 16-year old Adam, and lost, but he was the one who got the piss taken out of There was also a quiz. The first 2 sections were multiple choice, which was okay. The third was Freddy and Steve's Music Trivia Quiz. All of the questions are about festive hits from 1970s and earlier. I teamed up w/Lyn and managed to score 12 out of 70. It was clear that anyone who scored highly had 'cheated' using Google. There is a distinctly Swatch-shaped present underneath the tree :D | comments: Leave a comment |
| Today some of the 'crazier' types in work sang for us. Apparently it was arranged during the works night out, seeming a good idea while they were drunk. Initially the rumour was that they were going to go out busking. Instead Simon brought in his guitar, and we all had to donate a pound while they sang "Do they know it's Christmas". I'm not sure whom it was more embarrasing for: them singing, or us watching.
Tomorrow we can finish early at 1pm. We've all got to bring in some food, so I'll make some mince pies tonight.
Trolley guy paused on his way back round to wish me to have a 'merry Christmas' so I guess he won't be in tomorrow | comments: Leave a comment |
| For Secret Santa I got some 'Bad Girlz Only' brand mini-nail polishes, lip gloss and nail jewels. Off Deb. She txtd Lyn asking what to get me, Lyn noticed my 'funky' nail polish colour so thought it'd be a good suggestion. I guess it's sweet that she actually conferred over what to get me, instead of just buying bubble baths.
T.G. made his usual daily way round. He was wearing a zip-up sweat top. On his way back he paused and unzipped it revealing his Strap Ons t-shirt, yey! So then my cell mates were all asking "do you know him?" and teasing that he did it cuz he fancied me. He's pretty cute in a Jim Carrey a la Eternal-Sunshine puppydog way | comments: Leave a comment |

| blah, got busted in work. these past few days I've been leaving at 4.30.pm. it's painful for me to stay any longer. some of the managers have been off, others work 8-4, so I thought no-one would mind if I slinked out a little ahead of schedule. I mean, I'm not allowed to key any more transactions after 4.30pm... I think it was Gee who squealed. God knows what task he'll come up with to keep me occupied during my last half-hour tonight. When Karrie confronted me about it I said to her "There's nothing for me to do". Given the choice I truly would prefer to leave early and lose pay instead of growing more itchy and frustrated to leave as the seconds begin to feel like hours. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Had to ride my bike into work again cuz I couldn't afford an £8 Megarider, or any other bus ticket. I admit I riffled thru Rick's pockets before I left this morning hoping to find a wallet containing a tenner or his bus ticket. He still hasn't reimbursed me for the time he stayed over and swiped my day-old Megarider from the hallway, thinking it was his (Egocentric pig).
Once again I got grief off the courtyard attendant. You're supposed to have a permit which allows you to leave yr cycle in the boiler room. Apparently there's a long waiting list for one as well :(
I wish I could leave work at say, 3.30-ish this afternoon; while it was still light | comments: Leave a comment |

On Sunday I called my parents to place my order for 'Coldnose'. Hopefully they'll be able to figure out how to purchase it over the internet, and it'll arrive in time for Xmas Don't Leaf Me's dial got totally scratched on the night of Smile's 11th Birthday Bash. Guess I won't be hawking it on eBay in ten years time then | comments: Leave a comment |

| Been invited to the department office meal on Friday evening. Only because others have dropped out due to illness. £5 will get me a 3-course meal at Henry J.Beans. She need to know by the end of the day, so will probably need the money by the end of the day, which I can't afford. Still it'd probably seem a bit rude for me to go, chow down- not buying any drinks and then split. Plus Dave-mas on Saturday

| Everyday I walk to the library on my lunchhour and hope to bump into a generous-feeling friend who'd like to buy me lunch. Not even anything swanky that involved sitting down and cultery, a sandwich would be fine...
Kay lent me a tenner so I could go to Smile.
Peewee was in there but I didn't speak to him much. He's not mentioned about going to watch Silver Mount Zion for a while; I have no money to pay him back for the ticket so maybe he's found someone who can. Another expense would be getting a taxi back home afterwards cuz buses don't run late on weeknights. | comments: Leave a comment |
| I still have a job. In fact precisely the same job. They're going to extend my temp agency contract for another 6-weeks. I should have realised that my position would be one of the last to go...
Karrie asked if I was happy with that; I suppose it would have been nice to get to do something a bit more interesting/varied/new.
Ellie found out she's going to Agencies on Monday. Previously she was convinced that she'd be one of the last to go due to her specialist Evictions knowledge. She was crying; "it's the end of an era", she wailed. Then pulled herself together but went round the office telling everyone she'd been crying, in case they hadn't noticed her. Is this what happens to you when you work for the same company for 20-odd years? | comments: Leave a comment |
| Today in work we all received (Daily)Dairy Milk advent calendars. I imagine they're supposed to make us 'look forward' to arriving in work in the mornings. I already made a start on mine reasoning it would be okay to eat the chocolates falling upon weekends.
Tomorrow, 12.10 I find out my placement. Or even if I have a placement. At least my job at the moment is bearable in a monotonous way. Pee-wee seems to really hate his. But then it enabled him to raise enough cash to buy a viola(!) so he shouldn't complain too much.
I'm beginning to suspect less that I did something retarded like not putting a stamp on the acknowledgement postcard for the library job, and more that I didn't sell myself to the best of my abilities. | comments: Leave a comment |
